How to create an urban farm oasis
In the midst of chaos – fires on the American west coast, heavier than usual snows on our east coast – our food systems must go on. It’s a basic fact of our survival.
Yet….
How can we focus on food and farming while our cities burn and our economy crumbles?
How can we NOT?
Food and food security remain central to our human needs even as things fall apart all around us.
Brett Gallagher is an American living in the Czech Republic, with a vibrant permaculture farm in Prague.
Brett launched his farm with almost no experience.
Why did he get started?
How does he keep it going?
How did he grow his farm from a few potted plants on the balcony to an urban oasis?
Czech wasn’t always a republic. The Central European country had its own socialism experiment from 1948-1960.
Perhaps that history help shape the country’s attitude towards urban farming and food production in general.
Brett dives into how this history a bit.
