Welcome to Raw Milk Mama, a newsletter about food freedom, our food systems, and how to create local food security in our communities. As always, I appreciate any and all paid upgrades. I am a solo writer bringing you real, sometimes difficult, news from the front lines of our food system. Sign up here for weekly posts, or keep reading…
PA Farmer Mike Kovach joins the Nourishing Liberty podcast to talk about the Amos Miller case, regenerative farming, and farm advocacy.
If you’re not up to date on the convoluted case in PA, you can read more about it here and here and here to get some background.
In this enlightening conversation, Mike reminds us that
“There’s more to it than what you’re reading in the media. The folks that are most apt to comment on this are the ones who are reading those far right rags that are saying, this is government overreach. …Like they're attacking this poor farmer who’s just trying to make a living and do his thing, and that rings so familiar to me that it's tough not to jump on that bandwagon. I kinda wanna be pissed and yelling and shaking my fists as well. But at the end of the day, with just the tiniest bit of research, you see that there's more to this than meets the eye.”
We get really geeky about regenerative farming, (but we make sure to define the terms so that everyone can understand.)
And Mike reminds us all that…
“In 30, 40 years the only farmers left are going to be regenerative anyhow, so either join us now or join us later.”
Take a listen and join the conversation. Mike’s perspective is beyond valuable!
About Raw Milk Mama: I believe that we can reclaim our food systems through direct action. But it takes your participation whether you’re growing food, processing, or willing to support those who are. And sometimes, it takes taking direct action or calling on your state or federal elected officials.
I’m dedicated to helping people understand our food system and how we each fit into it..
Here’s how you can be part of it:
