This is SO important. I’m amazed how tech is taking off and they are telling young people to go into tach for a secure future. Imagine if that story was go into agriculture to always provide food for people. And farming is so fulfilling. Tech is bound for anti depressants.
Let’s get everyone involved in healthy food production
I agree! Even if just on a small scale. It all matters. What we're doing to the world, to our ecosystems, to our communities... it simply can't continue without disastrous consequences.
This. 100%. Community sufficiency is everything. It's not an easy thing to build. Trust is hard to come by in some rural communities and that makes me feel so frustrated and sad.
Hmmm... I'm familiar with these two concepts and the differences. These are both complex issues and topics right now and each one deserves more attention and discussion. Nothing is simple at the moment given the social/cultural dynamics were living within. 😕

Both are important. Emergency food supplies will get you through a calamity, knowledge of how to replace them will get you through the long term.
You're coming into your own, Liz, with these blogs. Engaging, topical, witty, thought-provoking. Keep going.
Thank you Hiram. ☺️
You made my day!
I Love your definition of food security. I’m going to use that when I explain why I put in so much effort to grow beef and (meat) chickens
Thanks Rick! I applaud your effort. Thanks for working hard to grow food security in your region.

Food security: everyone has food.
Food Sovereignty: everyone has control of their food.

I had to look up "MRE", which says a lot about where I live.
Thank you for this compelling story on the difference between prepping and food security.
